Friends of Milton Library Inc (FOML) is a not-for profit community group who works in partnership with Shoalhaven City Council to operate extended hours at Milton Library and provide a variety of literary and literacy programs.
In 2014 the Shoalhaven City Council planned to close to Milton Library and sell the historic Town Hall building that houses the library.
The local community rallied to save the library and, with the assistance of the Hon. Shelley Hancock M.P., FOML successfully saved the library and reached an agreement with Council to expand and extend the services offered.
FOML has doubled the hours of operation of the library, offer weekly storytime to pre-schoolers, a variety of literary events as part of Escape Artfest, children’s bookclubs and the exciting new adult Bookclub Program.
FOML is currently refurbishing the library which is due to reopen on Monday 10th December 2018. The plan is to create a versatile space which allows for the operation of a fully functional library but also provides a community space. This will be used for arts and cultural programs and events including festivals. Small community groups, who currently have no home nor the funds to hire facilities, will also be able to use the library space.
Our vision is to create a vibrant literary hub for Milton and the entire community.
